Comic Patrice O’Neal Dead at 41: 6 Other Deaths That Rocked the Comedy World

Comedy’s favorite curmudgeon, George Carlin, ruled the realm of dark comedy with his jokes about politics, religion and other taboo topics as well as his “Seven Dirty Words” routine. Throughout his career, Carlin starred in several HBO specials, landed his own TV show and earned a number of film roles. The stand-up giant died June 22, 2008, of heart failure.
