According to RadarOnline, a source close to Humphries spoke with the site about his reasons for seeking an annulment, saying, “[Humphries] absolutely plans on getting married again. Since the marriage only lasted 72 days, Kris feels that an annulment is appropriate. Kris will formally declare on the documents that he is seeking a legal separation from Kim. This is what needs to take place in California, for the judge to grant the annulment.”
“[Kris wants] this to be over with as quickly as possible,” the source continued. “The divorce could be finalized in six months, and since there was a pre-nup, there is no reason why that shouldn’t happen. Kris doesn’t plan on contesting anything, and won’t ask Kim for anything. When the annulment is granted, it will be as if Kris was never married to Kim.”
Since it the announcement of the couple’s divorce, many critics have called their nuptials nothing more than hoax and a publicity stunt aimed at ratings. And according to People, Humphries may just feel the same way. In his Superior Court filing, he marked the box reading “nullity of voidable marriage” and checked as the basis the box saying “fraud.”
Legal experts are saying that Humphries may be in for a legal fight as a judge would have to settle the conflict of whether to grant Humphries his annulment or Kardashian her divorce.
But a source close to Kardashian says that a legal battle will likely be avoided since the reality TV starlet has always wanted to annul the marriage.
“She always wanted an annulment but attorneys were against it so she’s happy that both parties agree now,” said the source.
According to the filing, if Humphries isn’t granted an annulment, then he wants a legal separation instead of a divorce.
