What prompted you to create your own studio?
I’m a writer, and a performer but most of all, a creator. I was tired of being overcharged to record my songs and I simply couldn’t afford it anymore. So, I “Googled” how to build a studio and actually did it. It’s small and it’s in my room, but it’s mine and I can record anytime I want on my own terms.
What sets you apart from other artists?
I consider myself business-minded and versatile at the same time. In the business sense, I’m very hands-on with my career. I understand that I’m more than just a recording artist; I’m a brand. Knowing that it’s just not about creating the music, it’s about branding yourself and marketing your brand is very important in the industry and I don’t believe many artists are aware of that. Staying focused and determined to get the job done is my No.1 priority. I’m also a versatile artist because not only do I compose rap songs with a mean rhyme scheme, but I also compose R&B songs and I record myself using Pro Tools.
What big names have you worked with?
On the indie scene, I have been fortunate enough to work with big names such as KD [Burn One], P. Dukes Music, and one of my favorites, Reggie Coby of the League of Extraordinary G’z.
What projects are you working on?
Recently, I released my LP titled Random Blue Daze. I’m in the process of dropping some visuals from that album. I also just completed my third project, Retro Active, which was released on Nov. 25.
Who are you working with on this project?
I’m working with Party Boy DJ: Slow Boogie, Gidon of (Public Offenders), labelmates Traci Rene, Marcus J and LS.
How has social media helped brand you as an artist?
Social media has been most important with helping brand me as an artist. Using social media has allowed me to make numerous connections with prominent blog sites, various promotions companies and hardworking artists on the come up like myself. Social media is most important in allowing me to stay in tune with the latest hip-hop updates and trends. Ways to market yourself and your music are constantly changing.
