With the holiday season here and a house filled with family and friends, we’re looking for ways to ensure effortless cooking and entertaining, without busting the budget. From budget-friendly recipes and creative entertaining tips to festive cocktails and décor, holiday celebrations are easy and affordable at Walmart. “Whether you have a gathering of family, friends or coworkers, delicious doesn’t necessarily mean difficult,” says foodie Monique Kilgore, founder of DivasCanCook.com. Planning ahead as much as possible will help to make sure your holiday celebration goes smoothly. Kilgore offers the following tips to help make it easier on you and your guests and dismisses the notion that holiday entertaining is an impossible feat.
Plan your menu. Write a list of all of your dishes and desserts, then gather the recipes for all of the items — even if it’s a recipe you’ve made over and over again.
Make a final guest list. When you know how many are coming, it will ensure you have enough food for everyone to enjoy and allow you to double the recipe if necessary.
Start prepping days before. Do all of your chopping beforehand and put them in bags so all you have to do is dump and stir. Sometimes pre-seasoned items can save you some time in the kitchen, but can be expensive. To save on money, season your own meat — sprinkle on a little Lawry’s beforehand.
