2011 has been a fantastic year! I recently was a cast member of “Master of the Mix” season two sponsored by Smirnoff Vodka and I must say that it was a great experience. To be in the presence of Kid Capri, Just Blaze,Viktor Duplaix, & DJ Mars was an humbling experience.
Describe your deejing style.
I’d say my DJ style is unique. I am a crowd pleaser and party rocker. I like to throw in a “throwback” in the mix every now and then that brings you back to that special memory.
How is deejaying profitable from a business standpoint?
When I first started, my mentor GT [97.9 The Box] told me to take any and every gig — paid and nonpaid. In the beginning I took more nonpaid gigs and to some people it may seem like you are not getting anywhere. After years of grinding, I can now make my own hourly rates, set my own schedule and be my own CEO. So for me, deejaying has become very profitable.
How did mixtapes change hip-hop?
I believe mixtapes are vital for artists and deejays. It gives an outlet for artists and deejays to express themselves and I personally think that without mix tapes, some artists would not be exposed. Mixtapes are simply a part of hip-hop and have been in existence since the ’80s.

What is the future of the DJ?
I believe anybody can play music, but not everybody can rock a crowd. So even though technology has some DJs fooled, I feel that the future of the DJ will remain constant, that is, if you want your party to be successful.
