The film eventually grossed $65 million. The film was promoted on The Oprah Winfrey Show and featured many prominent black names such as Johnny Gill, Cicely Tyson, Tangi Miller, Maya Angelou, KeKe Palmer, Boris Kodjoe, and Blair Underwood.
