Lil Wayne Publishing a Prison Memoir

Lil Wayne Publishing a Prison MemoirIn the past, when rappers went to prison, fans would expect their favorite incarcerated emcees to put all of their pent up creative juices into their rhymes once they were released. But nowadays, rappers have apparently found a new way to channel all of that post-prison creativity — by writing a novel. And that’s just what hip-hop titan Lil Wayne plans to do.

According to the Associated Press, Hachette Book Group announced on Jan. 12, that Lil Wayne recently signed a deal with their Grand Central Publishing division to publish a memoir titled, Gone Till November. Hachette revealed that the memoir will center on Wayne’s eight-month stint at Rikers Island in 2010 on a gun possession charge.

Grand Central Editor Ben Greenberg, described the book as a “revealing internal monologue” based on Wayne’s diaries that he kept in prison. Gone Till November will be released sometime in November of 2012.

Of course, Wayne isn’t the only emcee who’s gone from writing rhymes to writing novels. Check out these five other rappers who have written books as well. –nicholas robinson
