In it, Felicia (played by Felicia Boswell, Aida and The Wiz) hopes to rise from singing in the underground night club on Beale Street to becoming a superstar. In the face of bigotry at its height in the south, she knows fame and interracial dating are both forbidden. But her lover Huey is a smooth-talking maverick determined to help Felicia realize her dreams. He goes to great lengths to prove his point.
