JetBlue Pilot Pounds on Cockpit Door, Flight Diverted After Incident

A JetBlue pilot had to be restrained while in-flight today after passengers watched him run screaming up and down the aisles and pound on the cockpit door.

CBS reports that the pilot whose name has not been released had to be subdued by passengers after his co-pilot asked him to leave the cockpit and would not let him back in.

The captain was described as “incoherent” during JetBlue Flight 191 from New York’s John F. Kennedy to Las Vegas’ McCarran International and the flight was diverted to Amarillo, Texas.

Passengers on the plane reported seeing the pilot act erratically and confirmed that several of them had to restrain him.

JetBlue officials have since said that the flight changed courses “for a medical situation involving the captain.”

So far the incident does not seem to be related to terrorism but the FBI is said to still be investigating.
