Racist 'Hunger Games' Fans Upset Over Black Characters: 5 Most Ignorant Tweets

Hunger Games secured its place as a certified blockbuster by earning $155 million in its opening weekend. However, the film has been marred by a segment of ignorant fans who are upset because black characters appeared in the film.

According to a report by Jezebel, many fans have expressed anger because Rue (Amandla Stenberg), Thesh (Dayo Okeniyi) and Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) are black.

Apparently, a lot of white readers of the book series visualized the characters as caucasian without paying attention to the details written. Rue is described as having “dark brown skin” and Thresh has “the same dark skin as Rue.” And Cinna’s race isn’t defined in the book.

But that didn’t stop fans from tweeting racially insensitive remarks.
