Several changes have to occur if African Americans are to be successful at getting children to participate in science and technology fields in the future. First, we must return to reinforcing the importance of reading and education. Second, we must be honest as to answering why the majority of black students can’t even reach upper echelons in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers and struggle to pass basic high school algebra, biology and physics.
