Lamar Odom has surely seen better days. After being traded from the L.A. Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks last year, news dropped on April 9 that he’d split from the Mavericks. But now his former teammate and childhood friend, Metta World Peace, has chimed in with what some are calling some rather suspect jokes.
According to ESPN, after the Lakers vs. Hornets game on Monday, World Peace spoke with reporters about Odom’s split and joked about him returning to the Lakers.
“Maybe he can come back and be a ball boy and then next year, come play. That’s what he should do. He’d be the first ball boy in the NBA that can play. Come back; get the towels and next year, play. Why not? He should be a scout. Lamar should be a scout,” he said.
World Peace then went on a random rant about Odom’s future career options.
“Lamar should just like for one month, just be a Boy Scout and wear the outfit,” World Peace, taking the joke a step further. “Just have fun. You’re getting paid.”
He was then asked, What kind of merit badges would Odom earn?
“It would probably something that had to do with candy … Skittles … It would probably taste good,” World Peace said. “Sweet. Edible. I guess.”
Though reporters tried to move on, World Peace got in one last joke to finish his rant.
“What’s the biggest mountain in the world?” World Peace blurted out. “(Odom) should hike it. He should go hike it. Do something that’s never been done.”
We all know that World Peace is quite the random character, but we understand how his jokes may have gone too far considering rumors that Odom is in mental limbo now that his career in pretty much in the same place.
