‘The Five-Year Engagement’: Movie Review

'The Five-Year Engagement': Movie Review

Stars: Jason Segel, Emily Blunt and Chris Pratt

Studio: Universal Pictures

Tom (Jason Segel) and Violet (Emily Blunt) get engaged and start planning their nuptials. Unfortunately, fate throws a monkey wrench into the works when Violet is offered a job at the University of Michigan. Mind you, these young lovers live in the most beautiful city in the United States — San Francisco. When they head to the frozen tundra of the great state of Michigan, you might find yourself shedding a few tears for them, because they really have no idea what awaits them. What begins as a two-year work assignment and concomitant delay in the wedding, stretches a wee bit further into the future when Violet does such a great job that her contract is extended for a few more years, and hence the film’s title. –p.d. lee
