NeNe Leakes Lands Recurring Role on NBC Pilot

When NeNe Leakes said, “I’m very, very rich b—-” on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” many people thought she was exaggerating. Fast- forward to April 2012 and her seven-figure salary from the program and earnings from NBC’s “Glee” left many eating crow. Now there’s a good chance that the “housewife” will get even “richer,” considering that she’s landed yet another television role.

According to reports, Linnethia “‘NeNe” Leakes will play a recurring role on “The New Normal,” a pilot that’s been picked up by NBC. The show, created by Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler, revolves around a blended family of a gay couple (Andrew Rannells, Justin Bartha) and the woman (Georgia King) who becomes their surrogate. Ellen Barkin is listed as a co-star while Leakes is down as a recurring character.

Leakes’ new role on the show shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise considering that Murphy and Adler are two of the brains behind “Glee.”
