As far as celebrity dads go, no star has been more excited about fatherhood this year than hip-hop’s newest dad, Jay-Z. And though the rapper thought his joy over the birth of his daughter, Blue Ivy, would turn into sweet musical inspiration, he now claims that he’s been ditching the studio to spend more time with his new bundle of joy.
“I thought I would be more inspired with all the new feelings and everything that I’d have to write about, but it really happened the other way,” said Poppa Hov while speaking to MTV News in Philadelphia following a press conference where he announced his two-day Made in America music festival.
Jay spilled his heart on record just days after Blue was born when he released the track “Glory,” a song sharing his deepest thoughts on becoming a father and one that even featured a recording of Blue’s first coos and cries.
And Jay is confident that he’ll be back in the studio soon enough to write his life and times.
“I just really wanna hang out with her. I just wanna enjoy those moments for a bit and I’m sure that feeling of music will come back to me,” said Jay.
We’re sure none of Jay’s fans can hold him at fault for wanting to enjoy his time with his beloved daughter and, thankfully, he’s not the only industry dad who’s serious about making time for his kids.
