“Basketball Wives” star Royce Reed seemed heartbroken a few weeks ago when it was revealed that her boyfriend, NFL star Dezmon Briscoe, was involved in a very public sexting fiasco with his ex-girlfriend. But despite the heartache, Reed recently claimed that she plans to stay with her man.
“The situation is crazy and I understand why he did it, it was wrong as hell, but the fact is Dezmon never cheated on me,” Royce said in a recent interview with TT Torrez of iPower 92.1. “I’m not oblivious to [the] fact that Dez is young.”
Briscoe’s ex, Christina Nero, revealed her sexting affair with the NFL star via Twitter, even posting screen shots of their steamy text conversations. Though, Briscoe initially denied sexting Nero, he eventualled fessed up and publicly apologized to Reed.
Now, Reed claims that the sexting scandal is nothing more than the result of Nero, who is the mother of Briscoe’s child, being jealous of her romance with the athlete.
“I can’t make her get over the fact that one, they were never together, and two, they’re not gonna be together,” Royce said. “There’s no love lost because there was never any love gained, and I just feel like things got a little messy. And me responding to her got a little messy also.”
And despite her public embarrassment and recent blog post claiming she would take a break from Briscoe, Reed claims that she’s ready to move on from the drama and renew her romance with Briscoe.
“I’m not gonna leave Dezmon because of what the world thinks I should do. I love him, he loves me and it wasn’t time to walk away,” Royce explained. “I’m not gonna leave him for the one thing he did wrong when there were so many other things he did right.”
However, Torrez warned Royce that Briscoe may not be as trustworthy as she thinks and that she should be wary about believing what he says.
“You can only go by what he’s telling you. You never had a chance to speak to that other woman, so what he’s telling you may not always be 100 percent true,” Torrez said. “You’re only getting one side of the story.”
Wise words indeed, Perez. Well, only time (and Twitter) will tell if Briscoe is genuine and if he and Reed have what it takes to last. But they aren’t the first celeb couple to face infidelity. Check out some other famous infidelity stories below. –nicholas robinson
