Name: Lauren Clemons

Pageant Title: Miss Black Texas USA Talented Teen 2012

Years Active in Pageants: Four

You competed for the title twice. Why was it so important for you to win?
It was important for me to win the title because I wanted to be an example of hard work and persistence. I wanted to be a role model with my actions by showing today’s youth that if you want to achieve something in life then you have to give it your all and no matter what do not give up on your dreams.

How will you grow your “You Are Beautiful” platform if you take home the national title?
I chose low self-esteem as my platform because it is something that I’ve personally been battling with over the years. From that experience, I learned that depression not only hurts or affects you, but also the people around you. I decided to develop an organization that helps youth deal with low self-esteem and depression by channeling the pain into fine arts. If I win the national title of Miss Black USA Talented Teen, I will take my platform nationwide by continuing to talk to young boys and girls about how to raise their self-esteem and start a hotline for people who need advice with life-altering situations.

How can others get involved and help you take home the title?
I am asking for support in the Miss Black USA Talented Teen People’s Choice competition. Supporters can log on and search for Texas Talented Teen and  click vote under my picture. You will then be taken to a secure website to cast your vote. Votes are $1 each and there’s no limit. Voting is open until August 11, 2012. Those who would like to help me prepare for the national pageant can make donations by logging on to my Go Fund Me site.
