Quincy Jones Slams Diddy For Having No Musical Talent

Quincy Jones was the man of the night at Spotify’s recent Stories Behind The Music event held on June 26 at the Andaz Hotel in Hollywood. But it wasn’t just the legendary music maestro’s presence that left a lasting mark on the audience; it was the jab he took at Diddy during an interview with the evening’s host, Bruno Mars.

According to The Wrap, Jones was fielding questions from the audience and one particular question about “learning your craft” led to the topic of Diddy, whom Jones thinks is severely lacking in musical skill.

“P. Diddy wouldn’t know a B-flat” if it hit him,” said Jones to Mars.

“P. Diddy has a doctorate in marketing … He’s got clothes, companies and Ciroc vodka,” Jones added, acknowledging Diddy’s strong business ventures outside of music, but criticizing his lack of skill and knowledge when it comes to actually crafting a song.

The event was held to celebrate the launch of a new Spotify playlists app that features musical guidance from leading artists and tastemakers, but clearly audiences got a strong taste of Jones’ perspectives on creating music as well.
