DJ Nabs: DJ & Filmmaker

DJ NABS

When the King of Pop waved his glittered-glove over someone, the public endorse- ment is almost like being knighted by the Queen of England. As the only DJ to ever tour with Michael Jackson, DJ Nabs has been elevated to rarified air in the public’s consciousness. But make no mistake about it: The vast international spotlight Jackson provided did not make DJ Nabs a star; it simply revealed what was already there. It revealed the fact that DJ Nabs is one of the greatest and most tenacious turntable titans that Atlanta has ever produced. It revealed a globe-trotting mixing magician who is the official international tour DJ of crunk king Lil Jon and has toured with the likes of Monica and Ciara and was the official tour DJ of the A-list musical acts we loved like Kris Kross, Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat, Xscape and Bow Wow. Moreover, DJ Nabs provided the portal for which another famed rapper, Ludacris, was introduced to the world with Nabs’ DJ project, “In the Lab with DJ Nabs — the Live Album,” on Columbia Records in 1998.

As with any superstar of a particular genre, DJ Nabs has continued to remain relevant by diversifying his skills and multiplying his avenues of creativity. This is best exemplified through his Fox 5 megamix TV commercial that combines his video mix- ing skills with the network’s top shows, spurring interests from other intercontinental corporations for his expertise. DJ Nabs is about to pour the contents of his soul and life into a biographical documentary, “Nabs: Diary of a Mad DJ,” that will peel back the layers of this mystical musical maestro that makes him as much an enigma as he is an icon in the game.
