If you aren’t familiar with author Sapphire, née Romona Lofton, then all you have to do is mention she is the author of the lightning-rod book Push, the basis for the Academy Award-winning movie Precious, and nothing else needs to be said. Sapphire released The Kid, the prequel to Push, in 2011.
