We’ve all heard of the big-name lingerie stores like Victoria’s Secret, La Perla, and Fredrick’s of Hollywood, but now local lingerie boutiques are on the rise. You don’t hear about local lingerie boutiques often, but Myrtis “Me-Me” Rollins, 29, from Chicago wants you to know about hers. Rollins is the owner of Tease Boutique, a lingerie boutique located in Lacuna Artist Lofts in Pilsen. Rollins talked to rolling out about her humble beginnings and what’s next for her business. –songine’ clarke
How did you get started in the lingerie business?
My cousin and I started five years ago. Two weeks before Valentine’s Day, we were doing something at the shop (hair salon where she used to work) like free giveaways and spa days for women, and so, we just thought we should do lingerie and we took it from there.
Why lingerie?
Because I wanted to be sexy, well, I love to be sexy. So, I wanted other women to feel sexy about themselves as well.
What is it about lingerie that makes women feel sexy?
Personally, I like the way my guy looks at me when I have my lingerie on. I have the extra confidence, that I’m extra sexy. It’s a girl thing.
