Rodney King's Death Ruled an Accidental Drowning, Drugs Found in His System

Rodney King’s Death Was An Accidental Drowning

After his untimely passing in June, Rodney King’s cause of death has officially been released. King, 47, was found at the bottom of his pool by his fiancée and was unresponsive when paramedics arrived on the scene. There was speculation by King’s family that foul play could have been involved. On Thursday, Aug. 23 a coroner released a report calling King’s death an “accidental drowning” and noted that alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and PCP were in his system.

King’s 1991 brutal beating at the hands of LAPD sparked the infamous L.A. Riots.
