Actors We Thought Would Be Much Bigger Stars
Sanaa Lathan:
Who didn’t think that she was well on her way true stardom after she stole urban America’s and film critics’ hearts in the classic Love & Basketball? Between 1998 – 2001, she was arguably the biggest black female star in Hollywood her role as the mother of Wesley Snipes’ title character in Blade, a role in Life opposite Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, and supporting roles in the hit films The Wood and The Best Man, with the latter becoming one of the top 10 grossing black films of all time. She also reunited with then-love interest Snipes in Disappearing Acts in 2001.
But then, for a while, she seemed to disappear.
In the years that followed, Lathan’s appearances on the big and small screen have been much less frequent, although the films were still quality, including A Raisin in the Sun (2004), Alien vs. Predator (2005), Something New (2006), Out of Time (2007) and the Family that Preys (2008).
Lathan is currently shooting the second season of Starz’ original series Boss, starring Keklsey Grammer.
