Chad Johnson Will Not Go to Jail For Lozada Assault
Chad Johnson’s public debacle stemming from the assault of his then wife Evelyn Lozada, will not end with him behind bars after all. Reps for the former Miami Dolphin confirmed today that a plea deal was reached that will save him from serving any jail time. ‘TMZ” reports that the unemployed wide receiver agreed to be placed on probation and complete extensive anger management counseling in exchange for either a guilty or no contest plea. With the plea deal, he will be saved from the possible one-year prison sentence he was previously facing. Also under the agreement will be a no contact order that blocks him from talking to his ex-wife. The move should make the “Basketball Wife” very happy after she previously told Iyanla Vanzant that she no longer wishes to speak to him.
Before today’s development, Johnson appeared on an episode of “Inside: The NFL” where he took the blame for the Aug. 11 incident that severely altered his life. “I take full responsibility for everything,” said Johnson. “Always will. Always have. Where do I go from here? I gotta work on Chad. Chad has to work on Chad. Chad has to go deep down inside and figure out where you went wrong. … There was a time where, when I touched that field Sunday, you knew what time it was. At some point, I had drifted off track away from that.” Johnson has since been praised for his honesty. After the candid conversation, NBC sports analyst Cris Collinsworth tweeted,”Proud of Chad Johnson on INFL. He answered every question, took full responsibility, and offered no excuses.” Johnson’s tweets have since caused a flood of similar compliments. -danielle canada
