Scratch the surface of the young, confident, and breathtakingly beautiful Andy Allo, and you’ll find an old school musician, nurtured by her mother’s piano lessons, entertained by old school records and today, comforted by her trusted guitar.
Allo will perform live at Prince’s after-jam at Chicago’s House of Blues on Monday night, following a special performance by Prince himself, at his “Welcome 2 Chicago” engagement at the United Center earlier that evening in support of the Rebuild the Dream foundation.
Allo, a guitarist/vocalist in his band, The New Power Generation, held a listening party for her sophomore CD on Prince’s NPG Records titled “Superconductor,” last night at Chicago’s House of Blues. The album is Executive Produced by Prince, but the master does not overshadow his protégé; Allo is sensational in her own right, as evidenced by last night’s teaser live performance.
Allo’s music delivers a convincing fusion of old school funk, R&B, and jazz that flaunts her range–warm and reflective one moment, fiery and funkdafied the next.
Allo spoke with rolling out about her musical roots and influences.
