Preview: Iyanla, ‘Fix My Backstabbing Friends’

We crashed and burned. There were two kinds of destruction that weakened us, demise by fire (the disrespect for the brand that weakened our credibility to the outside world), and demise by water, (the stealthy, frequent drops of dissent that rotted our foundation from the inside).

The group of six had separated itself into cliques.

We had become outright hypocrites who blogged about girl power and the beauty of our partnership, but behind the scenes we rarely spoke. Hell, at one point, I personally blocked a few of them from Facebook.

So what in the hell happened to us?

Was there an inherent truth to what my ex-boyfriend had predicted; that women just can’t get along?

Enter “Iyanla: Fix My Life.” The Six Brown Chicks spent four days with Iyanla, and she unearthed some truths that we failed to see.

Iyanla dissected what went wrong with the Six Brown Chicks, but more than that, she revealed the ugliness that seeps into women’s relationships on a daily basis.

On Saturday, Oct. 6, the masks come off as we are fixed by Iyanla. You’ll see why Oprah Winfrey called it ‘one of the best episodes’ of the groundbreaking series and why Iyanla herself called the show transformative.

Personally speaking, “Iyanla: Fix My Life” is proof that sometimes you’ve got to destroy a thing in order to save it.
