The summer of 2001 will never be forgotten as R&B sensation Aaliyah, the Brooklyn, N.Y.-born, Detroit raised superstar died when she was just 22 when, after filming a music video, her plane went down shortly after takeoff on August 25, 2001. Two weeks later, the country suffered a tremendous loss in the terrorist attacks of Sept 11.
