Ryan Lanza's Facebook chat about Adam Lanza a hoax

The Lanza family has been propelled into a media storm of controversy, questions and ridicule in the wake of Adam Lanza’s horrific murders at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., which claimed the lives of 20 children and seven adults, including himself. Recently, it appeared that Lanza’s brother, Ryan, had come forward to share his thoughts on the tragedy, but a new report claims that Ryan was the victim of a hoax.

On Dec. 22, a man claiming to be Ryan had a Facebook chat with the New York Post and explained that he missed his brother and mother, Nancy Lanza, who was shot dead by his younger brother in the shooting.

“I am a victim,” Ryan said. “I loss [sic] my mom and brother.”

Ryan also posted a photo tribute to his brother with the words “R.I.P.,” “I will miss you bro. I will always love you as long as I live,” Lanza posted.

Ryan then posted a tribute to his mother as well.

“I miss you mom. I love you so much. You will be always in my heart,” he wrote.

However, after the NY Post published the story, the Lanza family contacted the publication and explained the entire Facebook chat was a hoax orchestrated by someone impersonating Ryan.

Well, the Lanza family isn’t  the only one to be victims of a hoax. Check out some other major hoaxes below. – nicholas robinson
