MCA dies of cancer


Whether you still think of them as the beer-guzzling, obnoxious frat-boy rappers of the mid-80s or as the innovative alt-rap critical darlings of the 90s; it’s somehow easy to forget the Beasties are no longer “Boys.” Nonetheless, it was a bit of a shock when Adam “MCA” Yauch died at age 47 of cancer. On the heels of other health-related hip hop deaths like Heavy D, Guru and Nate Dogg, it was a sobering reminder that the genre, like many of its most beloved stars, isn’t as young and carefree as it once was.
