Frank Ocean not arrested for public sex
After several websites erroneously reported that singer Frank Ocean had been arrested for engaging in a sex act with a male companion while driving, reps for a California police department are speaking out. As previously reported, the World Wide Web was in a tizzy after news broke that Ocean was in police custody after having sex in the front seat of his moving vehicle reportedly with an unnamed male friend.
Unfortunately for people reveling in the gossip about the admittedly bisexual singer, however, there is no record of such an arrest. There is, however, a police report confirming that Ocean was pulled over for a simple traffic violation.
CBS Local reports that they received a statement from the Mono County, Calif., police department where Ocean was vacationing during the New Year’s Eve holiday. While there, he was indeed stopped by authorities and given notice to appear for driving on a suspended license, speeding (doing 90 in a 65) and for having extremely tinted front windows on his BMW.
Unbeknownst to many, Frank has tweeted about the incident through a series of thinly veiled statements. Ocean notes that the Instagram picture of him in a police car caused not only an uproar but the so-called “Streisand effect,'” meaning people were left scrambling for more information.
