The heir-apparent
As the 2000s dawned, there was only one artist that the music world believed could walk in the famed shoes of pop icon, Janet Jackson. That artist was Aaliyah. With her own sound maturing, Aaliyah’s image and sound owed a lot to her predecessor. Sadly ironic that the year Aaliyah died was also the year Janet released her last commercial blockbuster, All For You. It’s a void that hasn’t been filled since.
