Petition to save ‘All My Babies’ Mamas’ surfaces

If you were one of several people who rejoiced over the cancellation of rapper Shawty Lo’s upcoming reality show, you’ll be displeased to know that your celebration might be premature. soon. Shawty Lo, 31, has pledged to not go down without a fight and is now battling the reported cancellation of his controversial show. As previously reported, “All My Babies’ Mamas” was set for a spring debut documenting the emcee’s battle to balance 10 baby’s mothers and 11 children. Late Tuesday it was announced that Oxygen network execs heeded the words of angry petitioners and pulled the plug on the program.

Now however reps for Lo confirm to RumorFix that a second petition titled “Oxygen Network: Put Shawty Lo and Baby Mamas back on the air” has been launched. In the document, supporters note that the rapper is a “father figure that most young black men today coming from a similar past lifestyle and environment, should mimic. […] A man is supposed to take care of his children, and the mother [s], weather [sic] it be singular or plural. So here’s the question, would you rather see 11 children struggle with mothers on welfare? Or watch a man support his children?”

The petition also pulls the race card and calls out “Jersey Shore,” and “Bad Girls Club” for being just as controversial, an actual valid point. So far the petition has a staggering 100 signatures. Check it out for yourself here.

Before news of Lo’s desperate attempt to save his show, a number of people reacted both positively and negatively over its cancellation. Included in that group was talking head Roland Martin, Free and comedian Lil Duval who made a point similar to one made in Shawty Lo’s petition.
