Hailing from Houston, Tex. in 1990, Destiny’s Child, originally named Girls Tyme, comprised of members Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, Beyoncé Knowles and LeToya Luckett. Following the success of their sophomore album, The Writings on the Wall which introduced commercial hits, “Say My Name” and “Bills Bills Bills,” LaTavia and LeToya defected from the group. They didn’t like manager Mathew Knowles’ “drill sergeant” style. Disgruntled, they wrote a later and realized in 1999 they were expelled from the group after seeing the “Say My Name” video that didn’t include them.
