According to Forbes, Santos’ shares in several Portuguese firms, including a cable television company and an Angolan bank, put her on the billionaires’ list for the first time. Her net worth today is $1 billion.

Named Entrepreneur of the year by Jornal de Angola in 2012, she is the biggest shareholder in the Portuguese media conglomerate, Zon, with 28.8% stock worth $35 million; she owns 19.5% of the Portuguese bank Banco BPI, worth $465 million; she owns 25% of Angola’s Banco BIC, worth an estimated  $160 million; and she owns 25% of the shares of Unitel, an Angolan telecom company.
