Oscar Pistorius accused of murdering his girlfriend
An Olympian heralded at the 2012 Olympic games for his stunning performance and artificial legs will be arrested this morning after police say he murdered his model girlfriend. Oscar Pistorius, 26, is accused of murdering his girlfriend who was shot inside his South Africa home. Affectionately known as the “Blade Runner,” Pistorius was the only other person in the home when his girlfriend Reva Steenkamp, 29, was shot four times.
And while the circumstances surrounding Steenkamp’s death are stil unclear, South African police said they would oppose Pistorius’ bail when he appears in court later today. Suspects are not named in South Africa until they’ve made a court appearance. A police spokesperson told the Associated Press that “there is no other suspect involved.”
Just hours before her death, Steenkamp sent out excited tweets to her fans about the Valentine’s Day holiday.
