There are many brave men and women of African descent who have served in the United States military. But for some reason, the spotlight is never fixed on those in leadership throughout the hallowed halls of the Pentagon. These are the seven highest ranking blacks serving in the U.S. military.
1. U.S. Army, Gen. Dennis L. Via: The sixth black four-star general of the U.S. Army, Gen. Dennis Via is also the highest ranking officer within the renowned Signal Corps. In the past he has served as the director, command, control, communications and computer systems directorate and JS CIO (J6) for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and as the principal advisor to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on all C4 systems matters within the Department of Defense.
