6. Lt. Gen. Edward A. Rice Jr. has been confirmed for appointment to the grade of general and assignment as commander, Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base. Currently he serves in the capacity of commander, U.S. Forces Japan and Commander, 5th Air Force, Yokota Air Base, Japan. Prior to this, he served as vice commander, Pacific Air Forces, commander, 13th Air Force, and commander, Kenney Headquarters until October 2006. Rice has flown more than 3,800 flying hours as a pilot.
