Gaskin Sr.: The fourth African American in Marine Corps history to achieve three-star grade, Gaskin assumed his current duties as deputy chairman, NATO Military Committee in Brussels, Belgium, in March 2010. In 2007, Gaskin headed the 35,000-member Multinational Force West, which patrolled Al Anbar, the largest province in Iraq, while serving as the Commanding General of the 2d Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C., from June 2006 until July 2008.
