“Mercy”
“Don’t sell me apartment, I move in the lobby. N—s is loitering just to feel important.”
Kanye West reveals how money can’t change racist attitudes. Several years ago, Jay-Z faced backlash from residents of an high end apartment building in New York after he attempted to move there. Kanye counters by saying he’s willing to do a sit-in just to be able to buy an expensive apartment. In turn, he ridicules himself and other black celebs for doing whatever it takes to feel important. It’s an overlooked lyric on one of the top songs of 2012.
