Kim Yancy pens 'Confessions of a Preacher's Wife'Name: Kimberley Yancy

Occupation: First Lady of New Vision Baptist Church

What was your inspiration for writing Confessions of a Preacher’s Wife?

Writing Confessions of a Preacher’s Wife was my personal therapy. I possessed a passion to give others a behind-the-scenes look at how difficult and fulfilling being in the ministry can be. Over 400 ministers leave the ministry every week in America and over 30 percent of clergy marriages end in divorce. This is usually due to common ailments of ministry such as time constraints, undefined acceptable boundaries, emotional abuse by church members, financial woes and infidelity.

What do you hope others will gain from reading this book?

It is my sincere hope that people will discover the power of prayer. Our present society has become so dull against sin and evil… Prayer is the tool that is used to fight in the spiritual realm and so many of our churches are not developing the art of prayer. This book covers topics that are common to the ministry and common to man.

What are your views on the first lady inspired reality show The Sisterhood?

The Sisterhood was a decent try at capturing the heart of a pastor’s wife; however, it did not deal with the relationships between the church and the pastors’ wives. Most pastors’ wives do not have that kind of time to meet up with each other as much as those ladies were doing in The Sisterhood and it made it seem very unrealistic and simply just entertainment. However, they did have some critical moments such as illustrating that ministry couples have problems, successes and failures too. I am supportive of using the medium of TV to help show the world Jesus. We are dealing with the first un-churched generation in America and we must reach them and teach them.
