Several Beyoncé fans were shocked when the singer debuted her latest single, “Bow Down/I Been On,” with its explicit “Bow down, b—hes” hook. But apparently no one was more appalled than conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh.
Limbaugh vented his frustration at Beyoncé’s having betrayed her loyal fan base of “Single Ladies” and “Independent Women” by releasing a song that tells ladies, of all things, to “bow down” to their man. Which is to say that Rush completely misinterpreted the song title and lyric.
“Their (Destiny’s Child) songs were attempts to inspire young women not to take any grief from men. She’s done a 180. Beyoncé, now having been married, having been impregnated and giving birth to Blue Ivy, she’s going out on a new tour,” Rush exclaimed. “And they may as well call it the ‘Bow Down B* ch’ Tour. ”
“She’s got a new song … a total 180. Beyoncé is now saying, ‘Go ahead and put up with it,'” he continued. “Because she married a rich guy. She’s even calling herself ‘Mrs. Carter’ on the tour. She now understands it’s worth it to bow down.” Good to know that Limbaugh gets his facts straight before he takes a position. Of course, Limbaugh going on ignorant rants is nothing new. One has to wonder if he even listened to the song?
