5 things the wealthiest hip-hop artists in ‘Forbes’ have in common

ciroc with diddy

They have a product to sell beyond music

Each artist used rap to launch their careers and later aligned themselves with a product to sell. Diddy owns a percentage of Ciroc and Sean Jean clothing; 50 Cent continues to make money off of his deal with VitaminWater; Dr. Dre struck gold with Beats by Dre headphones; and Jay-Z sold Rocawear clothing, owns the 40/40 club and has a stake in Carol’s Daughter. Birdman has made most of his money with music, but he recently launched GT Vodka. If you can find a good product to sell on the side, it may lead to more income.
