Kyle Hardrick of Oklahoma City, Okla., committed to the University of Oklahoma as a high school freshman. Despite living out his dream playing for the Sooners, Hardrick, a 6-foot-8 forward, played little due to a knee injury that he suffered during his time at Oklahoma. Hardrick has not received a medical waiver to return to the team. Since his tuition bills have been unpaid, the school pulled the scholarship, he cannot even transfer to go to another school. Worst of all, Hardrick’s family is stuck with all of their son’s medical bills because the school won’t pay. Hardrick’s dreams, his education and the state of his family finances, are crushed. Kyle’s mother, Valerie Hardwick, stated, “You believe that your child will be taken care of on and off that court throughout their college career,” to the congressional roundtable discussion last week. “My insurance does not cover all of Kyle’s medical bills,” writes the Daily Caller.
