In 2012, rapper Fat Joe appeared in a New Jersey court on the morning of Dec. 20 and pled guilty to a charge of failing to pay taxes on more than $3 million of income in each of 2007 and 2008. Joseph Cartagena (his government name) was freed on a $250,000 bond, he must return to court for sentencing this month and he faces up to two years in prison for his crime.
Federal prosecutors estimated the total tax loss to the government for the four years he didn’t pay taxes (2007-2010) was $718,038.
