Understanding addiction

There are so many forms of addiction that can tear families apart. In this novel, the author touches on drug addiction and being in denial.  Most addicts have the mentality of “I can stop whenever I’m ready.” In this particular story, the couple is what’s considered “functioning drug users.”  However, with any addiction, it soon becomes problematic.

Eyeopener

Oftentimes we don’t realize how the decisions we make as adults affects our children. We take for granted that because they are children, they don’t necessarily understand what is going on.  Although children may not be able to articulate their feelings at such a young age, never assume that they are oblivious to their surroundings. The storyline is so realistic, and makes you remember how precious life really is.

Will not disappoint

I’ve read all of Roby’s novels, and this one didn’t disappoint.  This book really makes you stop and think about how drugs can negatively impact your life.  You may assume someone has the perfect home, perfect career, or perfect children, but the exterior may only be a shell covering up interior struggles.  If you or someone you know is battling drug addiction, please seek help.   Our society today is spiraling downward with the abuse of not only street drugs, but also the abuse of prescription drugs as well.  The reward of living a clean life far exceeds the temporary euphoria from a quick fix.  Great read!
