Drake finally opened up about his feud with Chris Brown, whether Rihanna is a factor in it, and how much he supposedly wants the media to butt out of the issue. In an interview with RapRadar, the Young Money rapper revealed how frustrated he is with the entire situation. The two stars were famously involved in a brawl at a nightclub in New York City in the summer of 2012. Insiders claimed it was over Barbadian singer Rihanna, who briefly dated Drake during the three-year stretch when she wasn’t seeing Brown.
Coming just days after Brown appeared on “Sway In the Morning” and Hot 97 freestyling over Drake’s hit “Started From the Bottom” and a week after Brown’s interview with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club” where he admitted he has a problem with the rapper, Drizzy Drake decided to speak his piece. Despite calling media interviews “entrapment” and saying that “I try to avoid that s–t,” he proceeded to fire some subtle and some not-at-all-subtle shots at Brown.
“Don’t ask me s–t about that man when I come up there and leave that man alone. stop preying on his insecurities,” Drake said. “His insecurities are the fact that I make better music than him, that I’m more poppin’ than him and that at one point in life, the woman that he loves fell into my lap. I did what a real n—a would do and treated her with respect–so she’s not out there talking down on me. All those things combined create an individual that comes up to your radio station and [does] dumb s–t. But it shouldn’t be about tearing that man down, it shouldn’t be about wanting to see me and him tear each other down–we have an issue and its either gonna drag out or maybe in ten years we’ll laugh about it over drinks. But just let us solve that s–t.”
Drake also stated that this particular “beef” isn’t about hip-hop and fans won’t be getting music from it–so it should be left alone.
