Dealing with a heartbreaking illness

A mother’s story of a bipolar son This Fragile Life

Award-winning professor Charlotte Pierce-Baker is the mother and author of this very compelling and powerful novel.  Although this disorder does not discriminate by race or gender, African Americans are far less likely to receive treatments and diagnosis.  This is partially due to the lack of knowledge existing in our own homes and communities.  I applaud the Baker family for letting us into their lives and sharing this necessary story of mental illness.  It is truly a fragile story that gives hope to those who are facing similar struggles and opens the door for much-needed dialogue within our society.

Here are a few reasons to read and be enlightened by this book… –lili
