HOUSTON-Some of the world’s most prominent and influential women business owners, finance experts, spiritual and motivational speakers made their way to the Wortham Theater in Houston for the 6th Annual Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation (TWEF) Sister to Sister Celebrity Food Drive in celebration of Women’s History Month.
It was truly a special night full of encouragement and sisterhood. “We celebrated, we laughed, we cried, we danced, we got our praise on and we left empowered. What a wonderful night!

This year’s theme “Celebrating a Bond of Excellence,” brought a rousing night of inspiration, education, empowerment, power networking opportunities and much more! TWEF hosted some of the world’s most prominent figures that were also honored as this year’s Sister to Sister Honorary Chairs, such as, Misty Grant President of Logos Educators Network; Vanessa Reed CRA Manager of Comerica Bank Houston and Chief Strategist of Cavazos Communications Sylvia Cavazos.
TWEF also honored other prominent figures as this year’s Sister to Sister Honorees such as, Dr. Debra B. Morton, Power Women Founder; Melinda Spaulding Co-Anchor for Fox 26 News; Marian Harper Vice President of the Development Foundation for the Houston Astros; Houston Council Woman Wanda Adams; Denise Bishop 92FM News Director; Martha Kennerson VP of Marketing Amerigroup; Marvett Sawyer Howard, MBA VP of Marketing Amerigroup CRA Business Development & Community Development Banking for Capital One; Sheretta M. West First Lady of Church Without Walls; Shern-Min Chow KHOU 11 News Anchor; Sonya M. Sloan M.D. Orthopedic Surgeon; Sonya Taylor Stevenson Executive Director of The Fort Bend Church and Yolanda Green Comcast Community Investment Manager.
During this event, TWEF also honored Angie Stone who is a Grammy-nominated R&B singer, Two Lady of Soul Awards, and has received five Grammy Nominations for Top 10 R&B albums, with the 2013 TWEF International Leadership Award. The entertainment for the evening was provided by Grammy Award Winner Regina Belle.
Registration for this event was free with the donation of, one bag of non-perishable food items. These non-perishable food items were donated to the Houston Food Bank to help feed Houston’s homeless.
