Kevin Krigger will attempt to make history by becoming the first black jokey to win the Kentucky Derby since 1902.
He is the first black jockey to compete in the race since 1921. In the late 1800s, most of the jockeys were black. Jimmy Winkfield was the last black American to win the race in 1902.
Krigger, who grew up in St. Croix, began riding horses at the age of 5. Today, he will compete in the Kentucky Derby and will mount the horse Goldencents.
