Actress Meagan Good is known worldwide for her stunning beauty and memorable roles in films like Eve’s Bayou and LUV. Recently, Good sat down with rolling out to discuss some of the issues that she has had to face over the years and her new role as teen mentor and role model.

Tell us about your new teen empowerment movement and why it’s important to you?

I want them to get what it took me a long time to get but I want them to get it a lot sooner so that they don’t have to run into so many walls and so many destructive seasons before they grow out of it. When you grow out of it the damage is done and you can’t correct the mistakes that you have made but you can learn from them. There are times when I look up and I’m like I don’t know how I made it through my 20s but it’s hard for women, it’s hard for black women especially, and it’s hard to know yourself worth because there are so many things that lie to you and tell you that you aren’t good enough and that you don’t deserve it. By the grace of God I made it through and I want to help others do the same.

You have been very vocal about bullying. Why are you passionate about this topic?

I’m from California and growing up in the industry at the time when I was at my awkward stage where I was older than a teenager but not old enough to play those woman roles yet. The media and blogs were starting to sprout up and celebrities became more accessible for people to find. For every 100 things that people say about you that are nice those two or three things that people would say that were negative would be really harsh and would hurt my feelings. Prior to that I had already experienced a huge amount of bullying in school on a regular basis, but once I graduated high school and started delving more into the industry it was like “oh no; more bullying.” It was a different form of bullying but to me those harsh comments were still a form of bullying, so I do take the topic very seriously.

Can fans look forward to a new season of “Deception?”

Yes, I have been signed on for two new seasons and I’m very excited about it. I love the cast and the direction that it’s going. I also have a new movie coming out within the year.
